Tranquility

The tales of generations past
are whispered on the wind,
Bass fisherman, campers and boaters
abound on these waters.
Life here is unhurried.
Wildlife speaks of times past
and the promise of life anew.
Days measured only by the haunting cries of loons.
Seasons marked by the coming and goings
of ducks, deer and moose.
Winter ground covered by the tracks
of snowmobiles and felt boots,
Roof tops and chimneys covered in a white blanket,
fingers of ice upon window ledges.
At day’s end sunsets fall below the horizon,
Dusk in a blaze of reds and blues.
Each day the sky’s canvas is renewed,
never are two sunsets the same.
I believe, that god vacations upon these waters.
Near the shores of Lake Umbagog heaven is easily found.
